After an outstanding performance in 2017, the outlook for defense contractors and their suppliers in Connecticut remains strong in the coming years, according to the new annual report from the state’s Office of Military Affairs. Connecticut companies received $23 billion in defense contracts in 2017, the second highest level in 10 years. “We’re building the right things at the right time,” Bob Ross, the office’s executive director, told the Day. “The things we’re building in Connecticut are in high demand in the defense acquisition strategy: Sikorsky helicopters, Pratt & Whitney engines and submarines,” Ross said.
