We are proud to share that two members of the CCAT team—Chief Technology Officer Dr. Jackie Garofano and Principal Engineer Nasir Mannan—have been inducted into the University of Connecticut’s prestigious Academy of Distinguished Engineers. This exceptional honor is awarded to just ten alumni each year who exemplify excellence in engineering and whose contributions advance the profession, inspire future engineers, and create a lasting impact on society.
Dr. Garofano and Mr. Mannan were honored during the 2025 induction ceremony held at UConn’s Storrs campus, where Dean JC Zhao recognized the class for their extraordinary achievements in research, leadership, and societal impact. Their inclusion in this distinguished group speaks volumes about their commitment to innovation, education, and engineering for the public good.
Nasir Mannan, who received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UConn in 2007, now leads CCAT’s Advanced Design Automation and Metrology Lab. His work strengthens the U.S. supply chain by integrating Industry 4.0 technologies and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible—and necessary—for a better world.

“I’m grateful for this recognition, and excited about the future and the opportunities we share to greatly improve the quality of life on earth for all beings through the technology we create and help implement as engineers,” said Mannan.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Garofano and Mr. Mannan on this well-deserved recognition!
