CCAT Presents JobTraCT At IForum In Hartford

CCAT participated in the First/Last Mile: Ensuring Transit Opportunities Are Shared By All IForum at The Lyceum in Hartford, Conn. on March 31. The forum focused on the new transit options for Connecticut and the struggle that some riders have accessing these new options due to distance, and how they can get to easy, affordable links from home to the station and the station to work.

CCAT’s Workforce Development Specialist Lynn Raicik, Program Budget Specialist Bruce Karasik, and GIS Energy Specialist Jennifer Dierkens presented their new tool called JobTraCT.  It is a unique, interactive web-based tool that helps job seekers identify employers within a specific distance from public transportation (CTfastrak –CT rail-Hartford line). The tool integrates companies with current job openings and displays specific bus and walking directions by using GIS mapping techniques which will produce a dynamic graphical representation of job openings on the CTfastrak routes within a  ¼ – ½ mile from the bus stops or access points. Currently, there is no resource for a job seeker to identify manufacturers on a bus line unless they know the name of the company. The initial focus of the program will be manufacturing due to Connecticut’s robust manufacturing industry.
