Industry, innovation and old-fashioned yankee ingenuity run deep in greater Hartford’s blood. A hub for advanced manufacturing, as well as aerospace and defense companies, Hartford is a well-positioned magnet for top talent and companies. Familiar names with a stake in the region include Carrier, Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney, Stanley Black & Decker and United Technologies.
There also are many smaller firms that supply the big ones. In fact, there are about 2,000 manufacturers centered in the Hartford region, according to the MetroHartford Alliance.
“Our supply chain is about the best you can find in any region in the world,” said Ron Angelo, president and CEO of the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology in East Hartford. The center helps put advanced technologies into practice.
