EAST HARTFORD, Conn.—January 24, 2016 —The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) today announced the election of Rodney (Rod) O. Powell, president, Corporate Citizenship for Eversource Energy, to the CCAT Board of Directors.
At Eversource, Powell is primarily responsible for directing and managing the Eversource Energy Foundation and the company’s social responsibility programs. Prior to his current position, Powell was president of the Northeast Utilities Gas Business Unit where he oversaw operations of the company delivering natural gas to about 200,000 customers in 71 cities and towns in Connecticut, and 300,000 customers in 51 cities and towns in Massachusetts.
Prior to the 2012 NU/NSTAR merger, Powell was president and chief operating officer of Yankee Gas Services Company, a subsidiary of the NU system and Connecticut’s largest natural gas distribution company. Powell also held the position of president and Chief Operating Officer of Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo), an electric operating subsidiary of the NU system, where he was responsible for its electric distribution system and satisfying the needs of WMECo’s 200,000 customers throughout 59 communities in Western Massachusetts.
Powell serves on the Board of Directors of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Bushnell Center for Performing Arts and the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce. Powell is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Gas Association and former chairman of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Gas Association.
