TechAMP is a 12-month, MIT-designed certificate program that helps experienced manufacturing technicians build the technical, problem-solving and leadership skills needed to take the next step in their careers.

Delivered by CCAT in collaboration with the MIT LEAP Group, the program combines flexible online learning, interactive instruction, hands-on technical training and a workplace-based capstone project.

Who Should Apply?

TechAMP is designed for experienced manufacturing professionals ready to advance into technical leadership roles.

Applicants must:

  • Work full-time in manufacturing
  • Typically have at least three years of relevant technical or manufacturing experience
  • Be interested in advancing into a leadership, engineering-support or higher-level technical role
  • Have the support of their employer to participate
  • Be able to commit approximately 10–14 hours per week to coursework, labs and project work

Because participants complete a workplace-based capstone project, employer involvement and support are an important part of the program.

What You'll Experience

TechAMP combines flexible online learning with interactive instruction and hands-on training.

  • Online modules and instruction developed and led by MIT faculty and staff

Advanced Manufacturing Technologies

The program also introduces participants to technologies and disciplines shaping modern manufacturing, which may include:

  • Automation programming
  • Digital manufacturing
  • Machining
  • Mechatronics

  • Design and manufacturing fundamentals

The final curriculum delivered at each regional program site may be shaped by the needs and priorities of participating employers.

Program Details

Program length: 12 months

Cohort 2 start: September 2026

Format: Online instruction, interactive learning and hands-on training at CCAT Talent & Training Accelerator, East Hartford

Time commitment: Approximately 10–14 hours per week

Eligibility: Full-time manufacturing professionals with employer support

Credential: Certificate of completion

Cost: No cost to students and employers through DoD IBAS funding
