CCAT Launches Maritime Supplier Project Management Training Program to Strengthen Supply Chain Competitiveness

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) has launched the Maritime Supplier Project Management Training Program in partnership with General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB), Huntington-Ingalls Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS) and Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI). This program is designed to strengthen project execution across the Maritime Industrial Base and support national priorities for speed, scale, and supply chain resilience.

Beginning in August 2026, CCAT will lead training for managers at maritime suppliers through a mix of live online instruction, in-person hands-on sessions, self-paced coursework, and a capstone project. The curriculum focuses on practical project management disciplines including risk management, scheduling and planning, supplier coordination, change control, and cost visibility.

Many small and mid-sized maritime suppliers bring strong technical expertise to the Maritime Industrial Base, and this program is designed to strengthen the project management capabilities that help that expertise scale. As demand grows, suppliers need consistent methods for planning complex work, coordinating teams and partners, managing schedule and cost visibility, and anticipating risk from planning through delivery. The training program addresses those operational needs with practical tools that can be applied directly to day-to-day work.

Through this program, we are giving small and mid-sized maritime suppliers practical, repeatable tools to strengthen project execution, improve visibility and manage risk without adding unnecessary complexity,” said Matthew Sperzel, senior program manager, CCAT.

Created in collaboration with GDEB, HII-NNS, and BPMI, the program reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the capabilities of suppliers critical to the Maritime Industrial Base. The training is designed to provide participants with practical tools and techniques that can be put into action immediately.
