Connecticut’s aerospace industry is taking flight, driving innovation, creating jobs, and strengthening the state’s economy. For more than a century, Connecticut has been a leader in aviation and defense manufacturing, with major employers like Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky, and Collins Aerospace shaping the industry’s global reputation for excellence. Today, that legacy is not only alive—it’s accelerating, fueled by new technologies, rising demand, and a growing network of suppliers and innovators expanding across the state.
In a recent interview with FOX61, CCAT President and CEO Ron Angelo highlighted the powerful momentum propelling Connecticut’s aerospace sector forward.
“We’re seeing a huge demand for everything from engineers and high-level degree positions all the way down to technicians."—Ron Angelo
“Connecticut can produce the talent needed for the industrial base, aerospace and defense in particular—we have the workforce to meet this demand.”
With more than 113,000 people already employed in aerospace, Connecticut continues to prove that it has both the expertise and the infrastructure to support this critical sector.
The growth is visible statewide, from long-established industry leaders expanding operations to newcomers like WHI Global investing in new facilities and creating fresh career opportunities. According to the Aerospace Industries Association, the aerospace and defense industry generated over $68 billion in revenue in 2023, contributing nearly $2 billion in state and local taxes. The impact doesn’t stop there—suppliers, service providers, and communities across Connecticut are benefiting from the ripple effect of aerospace innovation and investment.
Ranked sixth in the nation for aerospace jobs, Connecticut shows no signs of slowing down. With sustained investments in workforce development, technology adoption, and advanced manufacturing, the state is poised to reach even greater heights in the years ahead.
As Ron Angelo shared, “Things just keep advancing… these exciting innovations are the cornerstone of our economy and our communities.” The future of aerospace in Connecticut is not just about planes and engines—it’s about people, progress, and possibilities.
