Machining Modeling to Drive Innovation & Competitiveness

June 25, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am

Join CCAT and Third Wave Systems to review and discuss case studies and problem solving approaches to drive cost out of the machining process. Trial-and-error testing and the linear thinking associated with it to improve machining processes has been the bane of the machining community. These methods appear to work fine, until you break an extremely expensive tool, destroy a machine tool spindle, scrap an expensive workpiece, need to rework a bad NC program, or lose business because of one of these issues.

To truly innovate, you need nonlinear methods for machining analysis. Understanding the heat, stress, and chip flow, beyond just forces is the key to avoid making compromises between tool wear, cycle time and part quality.

Learning Objectives:

> Drive efficiency in proving out parts to be ready for production for on-time delivery
> Reduce machine downtime due to spindle life issues & drive down consumable costs
> Why constant chip-thickness strategies work & where they fall short
> Innovate by leveraging the non-linear material behavior during machining process

Target Audience: Company Owners, Plant Managers, Advanced Manufacturing Engineers, Directors of Technology, Lean Improvement Leaders & Cost-Out Drivers
