The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) and the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) today announced that the 16th annual Women of Innovation Awards Gala will take place on Tuesday, September 29 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. The gala was originally scheduled to take place in April but has been postponed due to public health concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The prestigious Women of Innovation awards program celebrates and adds to a growing network of women leading Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) throughout Connecticut. Finalists are nominated by their peers, coworkers, and mentors, and are selected based on their professional experience, history of innovation, ability to think creatively and solve problems, and demonstration of leadership. Nominations were filed last month and are currently being reviewed by an expert panel of judges. Finalists will be announced later this spring.
“As leaders in science and technology, the women nominated and everyone involved in this initiative are cognizant of the critical importance of the steps being taken now to ensure the safety of residents throughout our state,” said Ron Angelo, President and CEO at CCAT, which this year partnered with the CTC in coordinating the initiative. “We look forward to seeing everyone in September, as we honor the outstanding, ground-breaking work being done in Connecticut.”
The awards program will begin with an Innovation Showcase, highlighting some of the STEM work of the finalists and industry frontrunners. Tickets for Sept. 29, and sponsorship details, are available at www.CCAT.us/womenofinnovation.
