Jon Lender’s June 23 column [”State’s Fuel Cell Bus Fleet Fades Away, After Initial Hopes of Pollution-Free Transit”] got the intent of the hydrogen fuel cell bus initiative right — it was a demonstration program to validate a clean energy technology for zero-emission buses operating in a dense urban area to help achieve compliance with air quality standards.
However, Lender failed to follow up. The demonstration program provided information for further refinement and commercialization of the technology.
