Pratt & Whitney President Bob Leduc visited CCAT’s Advanced Manufacturing Center on Thursday, March 8. Mr. Leduc had an opportunity to see how leading-edge technology is showcased, demonstrated and evaluated to suppliers around the world — including many Pratt & Whitney suppliers.
Among displayed technologies were additive manufacturing cells for creating metal and plastic parts, an ultra-sonic cell for machining ceramic and composites material, a hybrid manufacturing cell combining additive and subtractive technology in one work space, structured light scanning, 5-axis precision machining cells and more. He also viewed several of his company’s research and development projects under way at the AMC. With headquarters in East Hartford, Conn., Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units.
