At Auto Show, State Announces $2 Million More for Electric Car Rebate Program

Connecticut’s electric vehicle promotion program, which offers buyers of electric cars up to $5,000 in state rebates, is getting a $2 million boost from the utility company Avangrid under a merger agreement designed to promote alternative-fuel vehicle use.

Robert Klee, the state’s commissioner of energy and environmental protection, made the announcement Friday at the opening of the Connecticut International Auto Show in Hartford. He warned that a Republican tax bill passed by the U.S. House would end a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 for the purchase of electric vehicles.
