The chief executive officer of United Technologies Corp. called on industry analysts Monday to calm down as they continue to pepper executives of the aerospace conglomerate about fixes to its next-generation jet engines.
“I just would ask you guys to maybe think about another word, which is relax,” CEO Greg Hayes told analysts at the Paris Air Show. “Bob and his team have it,” he said, referring to Robert Leduc, president of subsidiary engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney.
“We’ve got a solution. It’s not a big deal,” he said. “It causes disruption with our customers, and that is something we should never let happen.”
Issues related to the jet engine have dogged UTC for a year or more. Hayes announced last October the appointment of an aerospace executive as operations chief at Pratt & Whitney to oversee the supply chain and delivery of equipment, including the engine.
