German Delegation & Zimmermann President Visit the AMC

CCAT’s Advanced Manufacturing Center proudly hosted a tour with a large parliamentary delegation from Baden-Württemberg, Germany on Wednesday, March 29, which included over 30 people as well as Cornelius Kiesel, president, Zimmermann GmbH North America. Led by AMC Director Don Balducci and AMC Manager Wayne Sumple, the group toured the facility and saw equipment demonstrations, including showcasing the newly completed Zimmermann FZ 37 5-axis machining center. AMC staff assisting with the tour included Additive Manufacturing Research and Applications Senior Engineer Jeff Crandall, Manufacturing Applications Engineer John von Roemer, Manufacturing Applications Engineer Henry Babiec, Machining Applications Specialist Eric Wold, and Manufacturing Applications Engineer Nasir Mannan.

Later that day, the delegation attended the German-American Business Forum Industry 4.0 – Opportunities and Challenges for Connecticut. The forum, hosted by Capitol Region Council of Governments and the German Consulate Boston, highlighted the importance of German-American partnerships and investments in Connecticut and how Industry 4.0 is revolutionizing advanced manufacturing here and abroad.
