EAST HARTFORD, CT - Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology Inc. (CCAT) will be participating in a new $1.25 million effort to create a New England innovation partnership aimed at accelerating clean energy proof of concept and startup activity. The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) and will be led by the New England Clean Energy Foundation (NECEF) located in Boston, MA.
As a Connecticut partner in the grant, CCAT will provide state leadership as a strategic partner for the engagement of the clean energy manufacturing supply chain and technical expertise for applied research and deployment projects. CCAT's participation includes providing market analysis to identify consumer needs, application of energy targeting to identify appropriate innovation technology, and economic cash flow analysis to support clean, cost effective, and economical facility development.
"The iGreen partnership has the demonstrated capacity to support business development and accelerate the commercialization of cleantech innovations through its proposed network and programs to connect new technologies with end-use customers," commented Elliot A. Ginsberg, President & CEO of CCAT. "These activities will provide important value for the State and the region, and we look forward to working with the New England Clean Energy Foundation on this project."
EDA selected six proposals to receive funding; one from each EDA region. NECEF's proposal to fund Cleantech Innovations New England was selected as the winner for the Northeast region. Over a two year period, the program will engage universities, innovators, corporations, venture capitalists, and other cleantech stakeholders to provide promising cleantech technologies with funding, business assistance, technical resources, and testing infrastructure.
