October is all about manufacturing!
Since 2011, Governor Dannell P. Malloy has officially proclaimed October as “Connecticut. Dream It. Do It. Manufacturing Month.” Now in its sixth year, Manufacturing Month features a broad range of activities to introduce young people to careers in manufacturing, with Connecticut’s manufacturers in the spotlight.

We kick off Manufacturing Month with a bang!
“Manufacturing Mania” is held on the first Friday of October in conjunction with national Manufacturing Day (MFGDAY). Manufacturing Mania gives middle school students an opportunity to learn more about the wide variety of careers today’s advanced manufacturing offers. The program includes exhibits and displays from manufacturers and educational institutions, demonstrations, hands-on workshops, competitions, and guest speakers.

Making it Real: Girls & Manufacturing Summit
Manufacturing is facing a serious skills gap, and part of this gap is the under-representation of women in the industry. Improving the image of manufacturing and sparking interest in future careers among girls is a number one priority to assure that manufacturers can attract, retain and advance women in skilled positions.
At the “Girls & Manufacturing Summit,” middle and high school girls come from around the State come together to learn more about career and educational pathways in manufacturing, experiential activities that showcase today’s manufacturing workplace, and opportunities to hear from women practitioners about 21st century manufacturing careers and the high-tech skills needed to be successful.
