CCAT's Initiatives

Technology

Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) -CCAT’s Advanced Manufacturing Center promulgates advanced technology and is comprised of three laboratories, the Laser Applications Laboratory (LAL), the Machining Applications Laboratory (LAL), and the Modeling & Simulation Metrology Laboratory.

  • Laser Applications Laboratory (LAL) - CCAT’s Laser Applications Laboratory aims to increase technical capabilities in laser materials processing in the areas of ablation, cladding, cutting, drilling, welding, and additive manufacturing.

  • Machining Applications Laboratory (MAL) - CCAT’s Machining Applications Lab (MAL) assists regional manufacturers with process improvement of an existing production process or for a new part, without disrupting day-to-day business demands.  Our capabilities include run-time optimization for milling and turning (improvements in milling cycle time satisfaction guaranteed), solving production problems (e.g., chatter), fixture design and fabrication, and hands-on training.

  • Modeling & Simulation Metrology Laboratory - CCAT’s Modeling & Simulation Metrology Laboratory focuses on identifying software tools to help manufacturers improve their efficiencies.   The technology includes software that provides machining process optimization as well as non-contact inspection system development.

Incubator - CCAT's Incubator Program promotes the growth and success of technology companies based within business incubators.  In addition to managing its own incubator, CCAT also administers a state-funded grant program for incubator companies.

Information Technology - CCAT's IT Services team offers end user support, hosted services and consulting to small and medium business, non-profits, education and municipalities.  Our initiative helps our clients maintain a reliable IT infrastructure, control costs and take advantage of emerging technology trends.

Technology, Research & Applications - CCAT’s Technology, Research and Applications Initiative leverages CCAT’s assets and core capabilities to analyze, develop and implement advanced technologies to strengthen U.S. competitiveness in manufacturing and energy.

Efficiency

Energy - CCAT’s Energy Initiative focuses on developing regional models for sustainable and reliable energy use, and strategies for the application of advanced renewable energy.

Manufacturing & Supply Chain Initiative (MSCI) - CCAT’s Manufacturing & Supply Chain Initiative conducts business assessments and produces improvement plans for manufacturers, helps companies find suitable suppliers for needed products and services, coordinates market expansion opportunities, and administers programs to improve the skills of the manufacturing workforce.

Modeling & Simulation - CCAT’s Modeling & Simulation Initiative concentrates on manufacturing process optimization, value stream mapping and discrete event factory modeling, as well as electronic work instructions and online training.

Workforce Development

Education & Training - CCAT’s Education and Training Initiative develops K-12 curriculum, STEM programs and workshops for students, and promotes 21st century skills, career awareness, and deliver innovative teacher professional development.

MSCI/Connecticut Quality Council (CQC) - CCAT’s Connecticut Quality Council focuses on improving organizational (manufacturing, health, banking, finance & government) quality level, productivity and efficiency through a comprehensive set of diverse public, as well as on-site private workshops.

Workforce Strategy & Planning - CCAT’s Workforce Strategy & Planning Initiative improves manufacturing competitiveness through research and planning, program design for incumbent and dislocated workers, referrals for training programs and services, outreach and advocacy in career opportunities, and employer engagement in education and training.
