Students Put on Their Game Faces to Compete

In a Student Manufacturing Challenge on May 10 in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (May 3, 2012) – Students from four Northeast high schools and technical education programs will compete in the Dream It. Do It. Manufacturing 4 the Future Student Challenge on May 10 at the Connecticut Convention Center. The competition is part of Mfg4, an exposition and conference produced by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).

The challenges include reverse engineering and lean manufacturing projects. The participating schools and their sponsoring organizations are: Montville High School (Oakdale, Conn.), sponsored by Devine Hydraulics, Inc.; Windham Regional Career Center (Brattleboro, Vt.), sponsored by HCP Packaging USA, Inc.; Orange-Ulster BOCES (Orange and Ulster Counties, N.Y.), sponsored by Spence Engineering; and River Valley Technical Center (Springfield, Vt.), sponsored by American Precision Museum.

The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) and Connecticut manufacturers are supporting the competition through sponsorships and displays, including a space suit courtesy of Hamilton Sundstrand in Windsor Locks, and a scale model of a submarine courtesy of General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton. Sandvick Coromant USA is the premiere sponsor of the event.
