Turning metal into complex parts

Real-time streaming video of parts being machined at Mfg4

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The advanced technology used to manufacture very complex parts for the aerospace, medical and defense industries will be demonstrated in real-time streaming video at the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc.’s (CCAT) exhibit booth 1727 during the Mfg4 Conference and Exposition May 8-10 at the Connecticut Convention Center, Hartford, Conn.

CCAT will use remote video to show its 5-axis multi-tasking machine, the Mazak Variaxis 630T, in action using its capabilities to do vertical turning as well as 5-axis milling. The advanced machine, currently housed at Mazak’s Northeast Headquarters and Technology Center in Windsor Locks, Conn. and soon to be relocated to CCAT’s Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) in East Hartford, will be under demonstration throughout the three-day Mfg4 event.

Critical to optimizing the manufacturing process is the ability to monitor how machines like the Mazak 5-axis multi-tasking are performing and interacting with other equipment. With the revolutionary MTConnect system, manufacturing data is available anywhere at any time from any device to any application, delivering real-time performance data. This dynamic technology will be demonstrated at CCAT’s booth using animated graphic representations that capture machines operating at CCAT’s AMC and at Mazak. To help improve manufacturing productivity, CCAT is working with its customers to develop tailored applications of MTConnect.
