Governor M. Jodi Rell announced that three Connecticut Universities received more than a total of $900,000 in grants. These grants were used to test biofuel quality and to study different production methods and feedstocks. Four biodiesel production facilities received a total of $2.2 million in grants and is expected to influence at least $6 million in private investments.
The grants to the universities were honored through the Fuel Diversification Grant Program, which is financed by DECD and managed by CCAT.
