The 10-Hour General Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide general industry workers with a broad awareness in recognizing and preventing hazards on a general industry site. The training covers a variety of safety and health topics, which a worker may encounter at a general industry site. OSHA recommends this training as an orientation to occupational safety and health. Workers must receive additional training on hazards specific to their job. Training will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards. Newly revised General Industry Outreach topics include the following orientation to: the OSH Act, General Duty Clause, employee rights and responsibilities, whistleblower rights, recordkeeping basics, inspections, citations and penalties, OSHA website resources, walking/working surfaces including fall protection, Subpart D; Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans and Fire Prevention/Protection, Subparts E & L; Electrical, Subpart S; Personal Protective Equipment, Subpart I; and Hazard Communication, Subpart Z. Additional topics will be covered including Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Subpart H; Materials Handling, Subpart N; and Machine Guarding, Subpart O. Participants successfully completing the hourly and course requirements receive an OSHA 10-hour Dept. of Labor course completion card.*
