The intent of the SBIP legislation is to provide grant money directly to start-up companies housed in Connecticut incubator facilities. Funding is furnished for the purpose of easing the inherent high financial burden of growing a technology based business. The program is administered in partnership with the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and applicants are reviewed on a first-come first-served basis.

Services Offered:

  • The program provides up to $30,000 in grant money for a company to perform a discreet project intended to help move it forward with is growth plan.

  • SBIP encourages startups to locate in business incubators where they can take advantage of many programs and services designed to help companies grow and succeed.

Benefits:

  • The goal of the program is to stimulate growth and development of technology based businesses in the state; ultimately contributing to Connecticut’s economy through the creation of jobs and revenue.

Eligibility:

  • The program is open to start-up technology companies that are located in Connecticut business incubator facilities. For a list of business incubators that participate in the Connecticut Business Incubator Network (CBIN) please look online at www.connecticutincubators.org.
